Who we are
CasaLore is operated by David Macrory in the United Kingdom. Postal address available on request. The operator is the data controller for the information described on this page. You can also reach us through the contact form (choose “Other”).
What we collect
- Newsletter: your email address, the wording you agreed to, when and on which page you signed up, and whether you have confirmed or unsubscribed. Before you’re added to the list, we’ll email you a link to confirm (double opt-in). Sending hasn’t started yet, so your signup waits until it does.
- Questions you send us: your question, an optional topic, and your email only if you choose to give it.
- Partnership inquiries: the name, email, organization and message you provide.
- Free resource requests: your name, email and the resources you chose. No payment details are collected; resources are free.
- Editor accounts: for the people who run CasaLore, an email address, role, and a session cookie.
Everything is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts CasaLore. Our database and file storage are set to Cloudflare’s Western Europe location. Please don’t put medical records, account details, or anyone else’s private information in a form.
Analytics and cookies
We measure how CasaLore is used so we can tell what helps. Here is everything that does that, and when.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views and page load times. It sets no cookies and doesn’t use local storage or follow you to other sites. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used. It runs whatever you choose.
- Our own daily totals. We count, per day, how often a tool is used, a printable is downloaded, a partner link is followed and the newsletter form is submitted. These are totals only: no cookies, no IP addresses, nothing that identifies you. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
- Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics Tag Manager loads on every page. Until you choose, every Google consent signal is set to “denied”: Google Analytics sets no cookies, but Google can still receive limited cookieless signals about the visit, which can include your IP address, browser and device details (such as user agent and screen size) and the page you’re on. Google says Google Analytics doesn’t store IP addresses. We use these signals only to understand overall use of the site (legitimate interests). If you accept analytics, Google Analytics also sets its cookies,
_gaand_ga_…, which by default last up to two years, so it can tell repeat visits apart (lawful basis: your consent). Google Analytics keeps the event data for 14 months. We don’t use Google Analytics for advertising: Google signals and ad personalisation are off, we don’t send user IDs, and we never send article titles or anything you type. - Your consent choice is kept in a cookie called
klarofor 365 days, so we don’t ask again on every page. This one is strictly necessary to remember your choice.
Changing your mind: use (also at the bottom of every page). If you decline or withdraw consent, Google’s consent signals go back to “denied” and we delete the Google Analytics cookies on this site. To stop the cookieless signals as well, block Google Tag Manager with your browser’s privacy settings or a content blocker; the site works the same without it.
Spam protection
Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a submission comes from a person, not an automated script. It runs in your browser when you use a form and doesn’t use advertising cookies.
What stays on your device
Your reading list, checklist progress, basket, the access key for your resource downloads, and your text-size choice are kept in your browser’s local storage. Only the download access key is ever sent back to us, and only to fetch your download links.
Your newsletter choice
Joining is optional. Every email will include a one-click unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe we keep a record that you did, so we never email you again by mistake. To be removed before sending begins, contact us.
Retention & your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We keep a nightly backup of our database for 30 days. We are setting time limits for keeping inquiries and resource requests, and will publish them here.
Affiliate & advertising disclosures
When an article contains a commercial partner link, it shows a disclosure at the top and the link is marked as sponsored. No ad network is connected and there are no advertising trackers. Advertisements and sponsorships will be clearly labeled if we add them. Partnerships don’t decide what we recommend, and we don’t sell links for search-ranking credit.
Shop & printable resource terms
All shop resources are free. We take no payment and give you print-ready resources: open a download in your browser and use Print to print it or save it as a PDF. Download links last 15 minutes; your basket can fetch fresh ones. Resources are for personal use, not resale. Payment, refund and tax terms will be published before we accept money.
Information, not individual advice
Our articles and tools are general editorial information. They are not medical, mental-health, legal, tax, or financial advice, and do not replace a professional assessment. Coverage and eligibility rules vary. Verify important decisions with the relevant authority or a qualified professional.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the US, call or text 988 for crisis support.
